but you can use a wand of beckoning to pull caged allies!

If you look at the description of a scroll of summoned monsters, you'll see that it "will call out to creatures in other planes of existence, drawing them through the fabric of reality to confront the reader". So it's summoning in the concept of an arcane ritual, not the concept of calling kids in for dinner when they're playing outside. :)

that's such a misleading name...

no, sadly summon monsters creates brand new monsters- it doesn't pull them from anywhere else on the level

just wonder... will scroll of summon monsters also summon caged allies?

I just destroyed a healing plant by throwing descent on it... sigh.

Let's say I have a +6 Naga. She can recover health, sap strength, fly, blink, is invisible and immune to fire. I want to teach her negation, but I don't want to risk teaching her lightning bolt. I can empower a troll, have it eat a steady diet of pixies or priestesses, then negate it (with wand or charm) every time it doesn't learn negation. Once it knows negation, I can kill it and feed it to my Naga. Now she is +7 and ready to learn reflection! All for the cost of one extra enchantment. Plus there is a change that I could resurrect the Troll at an altar later. Would this be worth it?

sorry for being a big tease- i didn't save the seed number. i probably could have been ok, but I backtracked from d9 to d2 for a wand of empowerment

What seed was that bleezy? A splint of reflection (yours was most likely +3 as well!) is one of the rarest and imo the most powerful drop in the game, let me try!

just starved to death with +5 splint of reflection and two +5 nagas

does anyone have problems with laptop heating up significantly when they leave Brogue running in the background with the splash page?

are there other paralytic gas rooms other than the rat-trap?

a potion of darkness can help displace gas, a staff of blinking can also help, but in general it is one of the hardest rooms to prep for

is there any good way to deal with key rooms which spray paralytic gas?

Actually the key isn't hard to get, if you get into fire, just run to a place that has already burned and then wait it out.

Hey! I bet that no one can take the key on the second floor in seed 54733774 (on the first floor it is funny too) :p

Good job on spelling Brogue, Deadstack! *gives him a gold star* Just remember, though, Brogue won't return that love. It'll find as many frustrating and ingenious ways to murder you as possible. :P

@BrownBeard: Sulai had set up a Brogue "gaming server" that he hosted for a little while as an experiment, but I don't believe he does anymore.

Sulai, how are you watching live games? Is there a brogue server somewhere, or does someone stream on youtube or twitch?
